Fraudsters Conned Victims Into Costly Phone Systems Plans
A pair of scammers from Hertfordshire swindled a number of small businesses out of millions by offering them expensive phone systems advancements when not required.
Daniel Cullen and Daniel Buttle claimed to be employed by a branch of BT and told trusting customers how they required to swap from analogue to digital. The pair lied and said schools and small enterprises would get the help of government grants and would get huge rebates- neither of which was correct. They finished up swindling over £1 million from unwary suspects.
The telephone systems hoax has ended in the crooks being carted off to prison; so when you are looking at updating your phone system don’t use anything but the reliable and trustworthy Abbey Telecom.
The imposters offered too good to be true deals for phone equipment and secured them within costly contracts which firms are battling to emerge from. One victim was unknowingly signed onto an 87-month plan leaving her with a £45,000 bill.
Cullen was handed a complete sentence of 36 months in jail and Buttle was sent down for 18 months for two fake trading fees. Both have been banned from being a company director for six years.
